ST. PAUL — Minnesota Commissioner of Labor and Industry Ken Peterson has appointed Jessica Looman to the position of assistant commissioner for construction codes and labor standards.
Looman has worked for the past 10 years as general counsel for the Laborers District Council of Minnesota and North Dakota. There she worked on issues including collective bargaining, prevailing wage and unemployment insurance.
Her experience also includes working for the Minnesota Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust, the national AFL-CIO, the National Labor Relations Board and the Minnesota Senate.
Looman graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School.
“I’m really looking forward to working with a great department,” she said.
She viewed her new position as “the most important way to make a difference in the lives of working people in Minnesota… particularly some of those who are most vulnerable.”
