Labor's booth returns to
Game Fair
August 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15
From the Minneapolis Labor Review, July 23, 2010

RAMSEY— For six years running, the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation and participating unions will host a booth for union members who visit the annual Game Fair in Anoka County.
The booth offers union members the opportunity to enter a drawing — for union members only — to win union-made firearms and other prizes. Participating unions also will offer free give-away items. An attraction from last year — the “Big Buck Hunter” video game — will be back.
Game Fair runs Friday-Sunday August 6-8 and August 13-15, staged among the woods and water at Armstrong Kennel Ranch in Ramsey. Game Fair hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
This year’s Game Fair is the 29th year for the outdoor hunting and fishing expo. Game Fair attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year to view and buy hunting and fishing gear, attend seminars, watch experts demonstrate skills, and participate in hands-on activities for adults and kids.
Activities for children of all ages include: slingshots, air rifles, archery and darts.
The Game Fair grounds have been renovated for this year and “we have a lot of new exhibitions,” said Game Fair’s Chuck Delaney. “We have a ton of events for people to participate in.”
Expert shooter Tom Knapp will be a featured attraction, performing twice each day, Delaney noted.
Labor booth seeks volunteers
The labor booth at Game Fair grew out of the union member outreach work of the North Suburban Advisory Council of the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation.
For more information about the labor booth — or to volunteer to help staff the booth — contact Anna Brelje at 612-379-4206 ext. 102.
Volunteers are needed, Brelje said, and each volunteer gets a free pass to Game Fair for the day in exchange for a few hours working the booth.
