Join the Fight for Living
Wages in Minneapolis! |
Posted May 6, 2005
Did You Know?
• Minneapolis’ current Living Wage Policy does not cover
many of the development projects using city funding, and
is not a formal, enforced law.
• Many companies that receive subsidies funded through your
tax dollars do not pay a living wage.
• Our limited public dollars should not be
subsidizing poverty-wage work.
That’s why we support an strong, enforceable ordinance
that states all companies that receive city money
through subsidies or contracts MUST PAY A LIVING WAGE!
We define a living wage as 130% of the Federal
Poverty limit for a family of four, which is the level at
which that family qualifies for food stamps.
We’ll need to collect thousands of signatures and talk to
tens of thousands of voters
To do this, we need your help!
• Come to the DFL City Convention and
support a resolution to endorse this campaign
• Contact Katie at Progressive MN to volunteer. Phone: 651-641-6199.
